Need to know: Wilderness

What we’re looking forward to and what to pack

MOST POPULAR

Wilderness, now in its fourth year, has established itself as one of the coolest annual events in Britain. Not for the main-stage line up – although we wouldn't miss headline acts including Sam Smith and London Grammar this year – but rather, because it's a music festival for people who don’t like actually like music festivals.

You don’t have to push your way through crowds or have to plan to get to the right stage at the right time. And, most importantly, you won't feel like you have been ripped off when you spend more than £10 on a burger. Wilderness is the tip of the iceberg for foodies; from a J Sheekey airstream serving fish and chips to locally-sourced street venders, it's got it all.

Our top tips:

Don't miss out on The Banquet. Every year, a handful of top restaurants erect a long banquet table and serve up a fine dining experience in the fields. The amazing combination of a once-in-a-life-time experience with its unique ambience cannot be missed.

Aside from all the great food, the pop-up shops are a great for sourcing unique pieces. Pop-up tents like Secret Emporium, which stocks clothing and jewellery from emerging British designers, are a great chance to see who's up-and-coming.

What to pack:

Invest in a good tent. And, by good, we don't mean expensive. Having already survived both Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party with our trusty Argos version, ELLE highly recommends making that your first stop.

After making the mistake of covering ourselves in glitter at past festivals (and still finding it two weeks on), we realised we could have worn this cropped sparkle T-shirt by Tawn and blended in with the crowds just the same.

Wilderness is full of fancy dress. Moving on from the floral headdresses, we recommend this feathered one from Topshop.

And, finally, your essentials check list:

Baby wipes

Bug spray

SPF make-up

Hand santizer

Dry shampoo

Ready? We'll see you there.
