When the nights draw in, the clocks go back and the sight of dew in the morning makes you wrap your scarf that bit more snug, it's often easy to fall into old habits of stock piling the wardrobe with fail-safe fashion items of black, black, and a bit more black.
However, we forget that autumn is the most opportune time to experiment with rich, warming autumnal tones such as latte-hued camel, burnt sienna, burgundy, blush pink, cream, mustard and hazel-tinted browns.
You only have to look at the latest covers of ELLE magazine, with stand out cover stars such as Lily James and Amy Adams, to see that the changing season is the time to enrich our fashion choices with shearling, clashing velvets, chunky knits and oversized coats.
But, if there's one colour that undoubtedly defines the quintessential autumnal wardrobe, it's brown.
