Grab a drink and a boat and head down to Regent’s Canal this weekend for ‘the first and only floating carnival’, aptly named Canalival. There will be DJs, dancers and decorated boats for you to drift along the canal in. Bring on the waterborne fun! The organisers, who have been working closely with the Canal & River Trust, have raised over £3300 to fund the free event.

Eden Sessions, in conjunction with the Eden Project, is perhaps not the first place you'd think to look for loud pop music. But a glimpse at the line up- Sigur Ros, The xx, Daughter, Jessie J- reveals that this little known festival could be a bundle of unexpected fun. The event includes lives comedy and kicks off next Monday with Eddie Izzard’s Force Majeure show. Tickets are still available through the website.
The UK’s largest art, design and fashion show, Free Range, returns for it’s annual seven-week showcase of emerging British talent. More than 3000 students and young graduates will showcase their work in a series of free exhibitions on all three floors of The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. Catwalk shows are invitation only, but all exhibitions are open to the public and there will be an informal meeting space to mingle.
Check out Thomson and Craighead’s ‘London Wall W1W’ at the Carroll/Fletcher gallery this weekend. Over a six week period Twitter updates, from within a one-mile radius of the W1W postcode, will be published on a massive wall. Why? Apparently these tweets reveal ‘the idle mutterings of our sleeves to ourselves as a form of concrete poetry.’ Still, sounds fun.
Wiggies is a new ‘porky loving’ pop up restaurant serving seasonal British food with an Eastern influence. Head to the first floor of The Rising Sun pub and you’ll discover a delightful array of piggy feasts, plus a range of charred and spiced vegetables for those feeling less daring. The restaurant, which is the brainchild of Lucy Hambro, opened last week and is staying put until November.
