Denim jackets always seem poised for a 'big return'. But then, perhaps, they never really ever go away. Lightweight enough to throw on over a summer dress, but versatile enough that they'll protect you from unpredictable British weather, they're an easy piece of transitional outerwear. And considering denim jackets have popped up on the runways of Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Chanel, Off-White, Kenzo and Vetements, for such a casual item, they sure have high fashion credentials. Denim jacket outfits can often be a misstep, however, by dressing an outfit down too far. The wrong kind of denim can cheapen a look. Button Up Your Denim Jacket

Cropped and short denim jackets are the most dangerous, in that they can lack fashion credentials when thrown over any old outfit. A simple trick for smartening up your denim jacket is to select one with a nice collar, and button it up all the way. Preppy, yes, but it's a deliberate look.
As we all turn more and more to sustainable fashion choices, with vintage stores becoming a frequent hang out, rooting around in the archives is an excellent way to get your hands on some fabulous older denim pieces. How about an 80s batwing sleeved denim jacket?
Your average stone-washed or distressed denims might err on the side of too casual, but selecting either a crisp, thick and super pale denim, or a deep indigo shade is a great way to make a look seem more expensive and put-together.
Not so oversized as to be a baggy mess, but a jacket with a more masculine tailored structure, paired with some more fitted trousers, gives a cool silhouette.
Do double denim if you dare, but select a matching style with a bit of pizzazz. This cropped denim jacket and jeans combo is luxe, glam and a fun all at the same time.
Duster jackets come and go, but they are a lovely lightweight outerwear option for the choppy British Spring weather. And this dark denim duster over a denim button-through dress is definitely fashion-forward.
Got an old denim jacket kicking about at the back of the wardrobe and you're unsure whether it's an in-season cut? Make like Chrissy Rutherford and double up your outerwear, with the denim jacket first and a voluminous jacket or trench coat over the top.

Cowboy fashion is as genderless as it is ageless. Western denim styles hardly ever fall foul of the fashion set.
