We've seen our fair share of fugly-turned-fashionable shoes in recent years. Pool sliders, Birkenstocks, flatforms, dad sandals.

In fact, it has become something of a sign of a true fashion game-changer when a designer can turn the truly heinous into something everyone (or nearly everyone) would happily sell their soul for. Just look at Vetements, or Isabel Marant's hidden-edge sneakers. Let's be honest, beautiful they were not.

Christopher Kane, he who re-birthed the 'dad sandal' just a few seasons ago, is now trying to do the same with Crocs.

The much-maligned rubber clog has never quite found favour with the fashion crowd, but if anyone can help it do so, it's Kane.

The Scottish designer teamed up with the shoe company to create a limited-edition bespoke collection featuring a marble-print graphic and natural gemstone shoe charms (they are called 'Jibbitz' apparently).

**In case you're behind, crystals are very much trending right now**

'I always work with unexpected items and combinations, transforming the everyday into desirable luxury. I wanted to bring my own stamp and DNA to Crocs' classic clog shoe and achieve something really special,' said Kane.

'The marble print feels very earthy and I often think of Crocs in a very grounded way, worn with either an evening dress or with jeans, and adding the rock crystals brings a bit of luxury to this everyday style. Crocs are arguably the most comfortable shoe, I love that they are slightly awkward and might be perceived by some as 'ugly'. They have a very naïve and childlike shape which I especially like when they look extra clunky on the foot,' he added.
