A four-day celebration in Venice with numerous designer costumes changes and a triple A-list guestlist would probably be enough to sate the wedding dreams of most of us.

Not so George Clooney and his new wife, Amal.

This weekend, the couple took over a marquee in the grounds of The Danesfield House Hotel & Spa in Buckinghamshire - not far from where they recently bought a home together - to carry on the party.

The 90-strong guest list is thought to have included Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (who were notably absent from the celebrations in Venice), as well as Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Kevin Spacey and Ewan McGregor.

For Amal it was also an excuse to give yet another knockout dress a whirl and she went for all-out glamour in a full-length, £2,500 sequinned sheath by Donna Karan.

For the wedding day proper, of course, she wore a lace creation by Oscar de la Renta, which was unveiled on the covers of People and Hello.

The unveiling of the dress had, up until now, been the icing on the cake of the ultimate wedding weekend.

The Clooneys' marriage became legally official on Monday, 29 September, putting the final piece of the puzzle in place with a civil ceremony in the city after a four-day, star-studded spectacular.

Amal wore a chic cream two-piece trouser suit and wide brimmed hat for the occasion, while George looked relaxed in a grey suit as he joked with the attendant papparazzi.

It was a far cry from their more traditional celebrations on Saturday, when a rep for the 53-year-old actor confirmed that the marriage had taken place 'in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy'.

The couple were then married by their close friend (and ex-mayor of Rome), Walter Veltroni, on Giudecca Island.

From the ceremony, a fleet of vintage water taxis transported them and their 90 guests - among them Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Cindy Crawford, Bono and skiving-from-Paris-Fashion-Week Anna Wintour - to the seven-star, waterside Aman Canal Grande Hotel for a blow-out reception that carried on late into the night.

The dress code was black tie. Clooney himself was pictured wearing what is believed to be Giorgio Armani.

Although Amal didn't make a public appearance in her dress, it has was confirmed to WWD that she wore Oscar de la Renta - putting paid to rumours it would be Alexander McQueen, which were stoked when she stepped out in a red McQueen resort 2015 gown for the couple's rehearsal dinner the night before.

The newlyweds emerged together on Sunday morning to continue the celebrations with a lavish brunch at the Hotel Cipriani.

Well-wishers lined the canal as they were transported by water taxi (above), waving to show off their new wedding bands - Amal looking radiant in an embroidered lace Giambattista dress.

Congrats, guys, from ELLE. *Blub
