Prinsloo is not alone when it comes to marriage tats. Beyoncé got ‘IV’ on her ring finger to commemorate her and Jay Z’s birth dates and their wedding anniversary. Poppy Delevingne, meanwhile, let her new husband, James Cook do the honours. He got their wedding date of 16.5.14 under a simple cross.

We asked Sarah Morgan to write about the power of a tattoo to mark a marriage in the latest issue of ELLE Wedding magazine. ‘It’s a pretty hardcore statement of intent’, she says, ‘probably the most extreme way our culture has to say ‘forever.’’
