The Model Book Club

What the catwalk stars are reading now

Anyone who thinks smart and pretty can't co-exist should really brush up on their model trivia: Carmen Kass is a chess champion, Lyndsey Scott programs computers, ELLE cover star Cameron Russell gave a TED Talk for 9 million people, and Lily Cole graduated from Cambridge with honors. Then there are the informal "book clubs" backstage at shows like Dior, McQueen, and Chloé, where models kill time between hair and makeup by turning pages or swiping Kindle screens. During fashion month, we polled some of today's top runway stars to find out their current must-reads; click through to see them all.

ROXY KISCINSKA @ RODARTE"Blue Pills: A Positive Love Story. It's a graphic novel, actually. It's really moving and intense; I try to carry the book with me wherever I travel, because it means so much to me!"

LISA VERBERGHT @ MARY KATRANTZOU"The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed out of a Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. The title is crazy; the book is crazy. It was a big hit where I'm from [in Belgium]."

MADISON STUBBINGTON @ ALEXANDER MCQUEEN"Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I'm reading the whole series. I love fantasy novels; anything otherworldly with really good adventures."

TAYLOR HILL @ GIVENCHY"Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso. I think it's so cool how she's built this empire and become a fashion icon by breaking the rules and going for everything herself. It's so inspiring."

ROMEE STRIJD @ ISABEL MARANT"The last book I read was 50 Shades of Grey, because everyone was talking about it and I wanted to see what the hype was about... turns out, the hype was about nothing."

YUMI LAMBERT @ DIOR"The Wind Up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami. I love the way it's such a psychological mind game, but it still reveals so much about the human condition. It's one of the best books I've read in a very long time."

JULIA VAN OS @ MUGLER"I'm reading Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. It's really wonderful, especially because I didn't know anything about it before I started."

PAULINE HOARAU @ CHANEL"The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I can't put it down. I have to know what happens to the little boy."
