Chelsea Clinton is releasing a new book, and it basically sounds amazing. She Persisted will be a children's picture book, comprised of 13 inspirational stories about women through American history, per EW. Each of the 13 stories will tell the story of a woman who overcame immense opposition to achieve her goals, including Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Oprah Winfrey, Nellie Bly, Maria Tallchief, Claudette Colvin, Clara Lemlich, Ruby Bridges, Margaret Chase Smith, Sally Ride, Florence Griffith Joyner, and Sonia Sotomayor. The book will also feature "a cameo" by another important female figure, which... who on earth could that be?

"I wrote this book for everyone who's ever wanted to speak up but has been told to quiet down, for everyone who's ever been made to feel less than," said Clinton in a statement. "The 13 women in She Persisted all overcame adversity to help shape our country—sometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. With this book, I want to send a message to young readers around the country—and the world—that persistence is power."

"Nevertheless, she persisted" became a powerful rallying cry for women on the left, following the incident in February where Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used those words to rebuke Elizabeth Warren after she was silenced on the Senate floor. Warren was speaking out against Jeff Sessions, who was at that time yet to be confirmed as Donald Trump's attorney general.

"She was warned. She was given an explanation," McConnell said. "Nevertheless, she persisted." Yep. She sure did, and it didn't take Hillary Clinton long to take part in the movement of using McConnell's dismissive words against him.
