In an interview over the weekend ahead of her latest showing at New York Fashion Week, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham appeared to throw cold water over recent reports that the Spice Girls were reuniting for a big fun exciting tour this coming summer. "I'm not going on tour," Beckham told British Vogue. "The girls aren't going on tour." She acknowledged the group's recent reunion did see them "brainstorming" ideas for the future, but said she is firmly focused on her fashion business.

And OK but hold up a second Posh, because this is a pretty abrupt way to crush my dreams. And many more folks' dreams too! Also though, hold up because maybe it's not even #thetruth?

Because TMZ is now reporting that the Spice Girls have all signed contracts confirming they'll be performing this year — "sources connected to the group tell us [Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown] signed on the dotted line last Friday and we're told the other members signed as well." Those contracts, TMZ continues, "spell out the specifics, including the number and location of concerts and compensation."

So what gives?! I'm going to suggest (because, look, sorry but I've cleared my schedule from May through October already to make sure I'm free for any potential concerts and I'm not looking back) that maybe the deal here is the forthcoming reunion being pitched as more a limited event special, and not a fully-fledged tour. You know, like a prestigious HBO miniseries rather than a full series of CSI.

If the "number and location of concerts," as TMZ mentions, is kept limited to drum up demand/hysteria — and, yes, also because Posh hates performing — then technically there's room for her denial to be true, and for our dreams (i.e. IRL "Stop!" singalongs with the group) to come true also.

I’m the news director here at Cosmopolitan.com, and I could really use a cup of tea right now. When I say I’m a lady on the street but a freak in the sheets, I mean that I’m eating mint chocolate cheesecake in bed. (Also, I’m a guy.)
