James and I knew that we wanted to get married in Scotland as his family are all from there. We chose a 15th castle called Duntreath castle as our wedding venue. Situated in Strathblane, Blanefield it was about fourty minutes’ drive outside of Glasgow’s busy city centre but felt like a world away.

During the reception we had a mini tipi set up and a little sign that said face painting. We hired someone to paint little floral hippy designs on the guest’s faces! All of little details we thought of and sourced ourselves but we had an amazing wedding facilitator called Carmen Yuen-Stevenson who helped co-ordinate and set everything up.

We created a physical family tree- using an eclectic mix of old photo frames, we scattered pictures of our ancestors on their wedding day and nailed them into the bark of the tree.

Since the wedding was being held in Scotland we felt that it was only right to have a whiskey station! Separated into barrels and crystal decanters we had a variety of different whiskeys for the guests to try.
