In the week that a Krispy Kreme ATM came into being, we’re vintage shopping, music festing and, well, eating A LOT of doughnutsMore
Everyone knows that the best bit of dinner is when the serious sugar and serious alcohol comes out. And that’s why London’s only dedicated dessert bar, Basement Sate, has quite sensibly dispensed with the fripperies of y’know, dinner, and cut straight to the good stuff. And better yet, for one night only, they’re teaming up with R&B Distillers to pair their sweet, sweeeeet pudding creations with the perfect Scotch. There’ll be whisky experts on hand to talk you through the thinking behind pairings – although we can probably save them the trouble. It’s because they taste blimmin’ brilliant.
18 May; £19 for a cocktail, two whiskies and two desserts 8 Broadwick Street, W1F 8HN
EVENT: The Tweed Run
You know the bit of the Tour de France where they have a stage through London? Well this is exactly like that. If you swap the Lycra for super-dapper vintage suits and dresses, the racing bikes for retro bicycles (baskets and all), and the boring medal-giving ceremony for an almighty garden party featuring BBQs, cocktails and DJs. We know which sounds more fun.
14 May; closing party entry £10 Spa Fields Park, Northampton Road, EC1R
FOOD: Krispy Kreme ATM
An ATM. Dispensing Krisy Kremes. Don’t worry: it blew our minds too. We’ll give you a moment for the idea to settle in… Back with us? Good. Then know that not only does such a magical invention exist, but it exists in Holborn. RIGHT NOW. At this hole in the wall, for a mere £2 swipe of your contactless card you’ll be dispensed with doughnutty goodness, with all proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. And the last bit of important info to know is: they’re NUTELLA FLAVOUR. Sorry, we went and blew your mind again, didn’t we?
Until 21 May, 8am-8pm 229 High Holborn, WC1V 7D
