Much has been said about how Ryan Reynolds fell in love with Blake Lively. She baked his way to his heart! They were friends, then they went on a very When Harry Met Sally double date with other people, and Ryan had the epiphany that SHE was the one he should be with! "We were just like fireworks coming across [the table]," he told Entertainment Weekly Sirius XM radio in February.
Today, Blake shared her side of that story on EW'sshow. Turns out Ryan was the most friend-zoned boy in the world before that night, as Blake gently put it:
[That date] went well for him. I don't know about fireworks for me. [laughs] No, yeah, we were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends so when we were both single, we were still trying to find each other's [perfect date]—"Oh, who would be good for you?" We'd sit around being like, "Oh jeez, do you know anyone?" And it didn't click for, I mean, a good year and a half. Like, "Oh hey, wait, hold on. We could date!"
In fact, being in the friend zone is the best thing that could've happened to Ryan, Blake explained:
That's what I appreciate about our relationship is that he really is—he's my friend, first and foremost still, you know? Not just in our history but in everyday life, he is my friend first. And I think that's the secret to happiness. I don't know! I don't know the secret to happiness, but the secret to my happiness.
