We won't let the terrible weather dampen summer's festival spirit.

Which is why we're getting just a little bit excited about Lovebox this weekend.

Taking place in Victoria Park, and kicking off on Friday afternoon, here are five reasons to dig out your mud-encrusted wellies and make the most of British summertime in the city.

1.) Major Lazer are headlining

Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy will 'Light It Up' on Friday night on the Main Stage.

In anticipation of their fourth album due out later this year, we're expecting both literal and metaphorical fireworks from the EDM trio, whose collaborations include Snoop Dogg and Ariana Grande.

2.) MØ is going to cause a Kamikaze

Music crush of the moment, the Danish singer-songwriter featured on Major Lazer's 'Lean On' before becoming a breakthrough act with her unbelievably catchy first single 'Kamikaze'.

Maybe we'll get a Major Lazer-MØ stage reunion. Maybe we'll just get MØ on her own. Either way we can't wait to see her.

3.) Stormzy is doing his victory lap

The poster boy for grime, who gets shout outs from Adele and has interviewed David Beckham, Stormzy is the UK's hottest rapper right now.

The freestyling genuis takes to the main stage on Friday after an amazing year of awards and a world record for becoming the first artist to get a top 40 in the UK charts with a freestyle.

4.) The food stall line-up is as good as the music

If there's one thing that's going to distract your attention away from the music, it's the food stall line-up.

Le Bun (who recently teamed up with Kelis – watch out for a guest appearance), Vodoo Ray's, Mother Clucker and Bubbledogs have pop-ups across the weekend, serving the perfect grub for hungry festival goers.

5.) Festival hair lives on

The Braid Bar is going to be on site so we'll be clinging on to festival hair for a while longer.

And when the main stage packs up, the party isn't over.

There After Dark acts on both nights, including a DJ set by Goldie at Oval Space. It's the festival that just keeps giving.
