The Late Night US shows are always such fun.

Big budgets and big audiences mean the TV giants Corden and Fallon can get guests our UK equivalents would need a miracle to pull off.

James Corden managed to get Michelle Obama to rap for us, and Jimmy Fallon got Barack Obama to 'slow jam the news.'

Hillary Clinton even got in on the joke on SNL.

These little appearances make distant politicians seem human, right?

Whatever you think of their policies, they are just people too; parents, friends and partners, they deserve a laugh just like the rest of us.

So why was Jimmy Fallon ruffling Donald's Trump's hair so darn creepy?

Was it the fear the hair would squawk and fly away?

That it would disturb a mask to reveal a lizard man who would shake his lizard claws and say, 'And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!'

Or that it would simply reveal his humour and humanity and let you realise he is actually just a husband, a father, a ...dare we say...just a bloke with weird hair?

*Shudder*

Thankfully over here politicians are too awkward and boring to go near a comedy skit, having said that, Sadiq Khan has recently volunteered a proper dad joke about Jeremy Hunt which was suitably endearing to watch.

Perhaps politics at the moment is too close to farce for a joke to be made out of it, or maybe toupées should just be left out of it.
