Ocean's Eight is bringing back Matt Damon, who originally starred as Linus Caldwell in Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen—but just for a cameo, Damon tells ET.
"I'm doing a little bit in the movie," Damon told ET. "I haven't read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I'm excited to see what those women do with it. It's going to be fun."
The all-female reboot of the ensemble heist series that began with Ocean's Eleven has just started shooting in New York.
The film is directed by The Hunger Games' Gary Ross, and will also feature Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, and rapper Awkwafina. Ocean's Eleven filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is producing the remake alongside Ross.
The original 2001 heist film starring Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt was itself a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film of the same name. It spawned two sequels, Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and Ocean's Thirteen in 2007.
Ocean's Eight is expected to be released in 2017.
