After an incredibly taxing and often heartbreaking year, Kesha is looking forward to 2017 for a fresh start.

In an emotional and beautiful letter to her fans on Thursday, the singer took to Instagram to reflect on everything that's happened in 2016, and to reaffirm her dedication to releasing new music as quickly as she is able.

"Just got back a mix of me and someone singing a duet [and] crying happy tears," she wrote. "Never in my life imagined this dream could ever actually come true."

"Please pray one day y'all can hear this music," she continued. "It's the most vulnerable and honest I have ever been to myself and it's literally documenting me growing up. I cannot wait and will forever fight for you to hear it."

She also took time to voice her support for her fans, who have stuck by her side through thick and thin, and indirectly referenced everything that's happened in her sexual assault lawsuit against Dr. Luke this past year.

"Merry everything and happy every day and thank you for not abandoning me while I fight the good fight," she wrote. "I just want to make art. And let you hear it. That's all I want for Christmas. And my New Year's resolution is to finish my record and give it to you. Thank you animals. Love y'all."

As previously reported, Kesha has not been able to release new music since 2012's Warrior due to her legal battle with Dr. Luke. In August, she dropped her sexual assault and abuse case against him in California, but the singer has continued forward with her legal battles against him in New York. Despite many fans worrying this might mean a further delay in Kesha being able to put out new music, Sony released a statement in October promising that an album would be coming "soon."

"Creating a new album takes time, and everyone's goal is to deliver a high quality album consistent with Kesha's past releases," the company said, according to E! News. "We hope to share exciting new music with Kesha's fans soon."
