Ellen DeGeneres took a moment to pay tribute to her friend and frequent guest, Carrie Fisher, in the last moments of her show airing today. The iconic actress passed away on December 27 after suffering a heart attack.

"I wanna say something about my friend, Carrie Fisher," DeGeneres said. "I knew her for a long time. She has been on the show many times, and the last time was just a month ago. And I loved when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart, she was funny, she was hilariously honest about herself and the world around her."

After Ellen's words, she cut to a video featuring clips of Fisher's several appearances on the show, including a memorable segment of Ellen and Carrie running around Hollywood Boulevard with Princess Leia wigs, selling Star Wars tickets to people on the the street. In addition to some of Carrie's funny moments on the show, the montage also includes photos of Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, who died just one day after Fisher at the age of 84.

Fisher made her last appearance on Ellen at the end of November, when she gave life advice to audience members as part of Ellen's game called "Carrie Fishing for Answers." At the end of the touching tribute, DeGeneres said: "I miss you, Carrie. I love ya."
