While all eyes might have been on the cast and crew of La La Land, who collected an impressive seven awards at last night's Golden Globes in Hollywood – we'd like to draw your attention to Donald Glover, star and writer of comedy-drama television series Atlanta.

Many music-lovers among you will know will know the American artist first, and foremost, as a rapper and singer and a two-time Grammy Award nominated performer – otherwise known under his stage name 'Childish Gambino'.

After all, this is the guy who brought us melodical delights such as 'Redbone' and '3005'.

Last night, the multi-talented star added another string to his bow when he picked up an award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series and the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy prize for Atlanta.

In his first speech of the night, Glover – who wore a custom Gucci brown velvet tux – thanked Georgian-based hip-hop group Migos 'not for being in the show, but for making 'Bad And Boujee'.

A shout out to your favourite music group not be customary in Golden Globe acceptance speeches but we now hope this will be a thing.

He later opened up about the power of television and film in inspiring young children that anything is possible.

'I grew up in a house where magic wasn't allowed so being here is like magical to me. Every time I saw a movie or Disney movies or heard your voices or saw you, I was like, oh, magic is from people,' Glover told the audience.

'Like, we're the ones who kind of, in a weird way, tell a story or a lie to children so they do stuff that they never thought was possible,' he added.

Be still our beating hearts.

At the age of 23, Glover caught the attention of Derrick Comedy – an Internet sketch comedy group from New York University – and Tina Fey, who later hired the Californian star to become a writer for her award-winning NBC comedy series 30 Rock.

In a recent interview with Wired, the actor-turned-rapper opened up about what, or rather who, inspired him to start writing for television.

Donald candidly replied: 'I decided I wanted to write for television because of Tina [Fey]. She was always so happy, and I was like, I want to be happy like that too.'

Too cute, too darn cute.

With an eye for comedy, acting and producing, Glover has gone onto star in some of the US' most beloved shows including Community and Girls and films such as Magic Mike XXL, The Martian and up-coming franchies Spider-Man: Homecoming and the untitled Han Solo anthology film.

However, the star's biggest success to date is arguably his FX titled comedy drama Atlanta.

In 2013, the 33-year-old signed on to created the music-themed show in which he would star, write, and executive produce.

Talk about an over-achiever.

Atlanta tells the story of two cousins, Earn (Glover) and his cousin, who raps under the stage name 'Paper Boi' (Brian Tyree Henry) who are trying to navigate their way through the Atlanta rap scene in order to improve their humdrum lives.

Earn – who dropped out of Princeton University – is trying to redeem himself to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his daughter so, when he realises the growing popularity and success of his rapper cousin, he embarks on a journey to improve their families' lives forever.

All aboard – the Donald Glover love train is about to depart. Watch this space.
