Katherine Jenkins has responded to leaked David Beckham emails that questioned whether or not she deserved her OBE.

The email sent to Beckham's publicist Simon Oliveira was prompted by the former footballer's anger at at not being awarded a knighthood. It read: "Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F***ing joke".

Jenkins' manager, Jonathan Shalit, has since addressed the email, which were hacked after Olivieira's server was illegally hacked.

"Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. I say Katherine was awarded an OBE  for her services to music and charity," Shalit told The Sun.

"With regards to the taking of coke which Katherine has courageously publicly admitted with great honesty – this was when she was in her early 20s still studying, over a decade before she was awarded her OBE and started her recording career."

Jenkins was awarded an OBE in 2014. Beckham received his OBE for services to football in 2003.

A spokesperson for Beckham told The Telegraph: "This story is based on outdated material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third party server and gives a deliberately inaccurate picture."
