Wine and ice cream are both elements of a fantastic night in, but have you ever thought of combining the two? Well, food bloggers Jessica Pinney and Janette Staub have done just that, and the end result looks pretty fantastic.

Using Merlot, the pair created the sweet treat on their blog Cooking With Janica – and even concocted a wine and ice cream sundae.

"Jesus may have turned water into wine, but I turned wine into ice cream," the two boasted on the blog.

With Pinney described the taste as: "The ice cream is creamy and sweet and first, but then you get the tang from the wine."

The sundae itself takes their original ice-cream recipe to the next level. They combine the ice cream with vanilla bean whipped cream, spiced red wine syrup and lavender almonds.

However, if you don't have an ice cream maker, head to the blog, They Called It The Diamond for a fantastic no-churn ice-cream recipe that uses only four ingredients
