It's been a while since we've had a weepy teen drama to watch on those lonely, singleton nights with too much cheese doodles and an extra large coke – but never fear, because the universe is giving us a new romantic drama we can pretend we don't want to watch.

Jaden Smith and Cara Delevingne will star in the film, called Life in a Year, which features a 17-year-old boy (Jaden) and his dying girlfriend (Cara) as they try to squeeze their entire life into the year she has left to live.

Sounds like a classic teary two hours.

Production on the new film starts later this year and is being made by Overbrook Entertainment, which is owned by Jaden's dad Will Smith. You might have heard of him?

Cara has had roles in angsty teen movies before – she starred in the adaptation of John Green's Paper Towns – alongside having a pretty diverse acting CV, including Suicide Squad and upcoming science action film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Jaden was cast by father Will after starring alongside him in The Pursuit of Happiness and After Earth, both of which were also made by Overbrook Entertainment.

Here's hoping that this emotional drama will be everything we want from a sad film.
