Michael Jackson's grown-up daughter Paris is entering the acting spotlight this week.

The 18-year-old will make a cameo in Fox's new musical drama, Star, on March 8, and in a new behind-the-scenes video, Jackson discusses how she landed her first major acting role. "When I heard about Star I watched the first couple of episodes and fell in love," she said, adding that the show's director Lee Daniels (of Empire fame) was interested in having her on the series after they initially met.

In this week's episode, Jackson plays Rachel Wallace, "a young, super-chic, stylish and intimidating social media guru" who oversees a photo shoot for the girl group on the show, according to Deadline.

"This role is really opposite to me," the actress explained with a soft voice, slightly reminiscent of her late father's.

Though this marks her first major TV project, don't expect this to be the last. Jackson explained that appearing in Star is a good opportunity for her to show her "true acting capabilities." Perhaps we'll see her take on more roles in the future.

You can watch Paris Jackson make her small screen debut in this week's episode of Star on Fox this Wednesday March 8 at 9 p.m. EST.
