Fresh off his hilarious anecdote about his circumcised penis not actually being circumcised, and his public show of support for feminism and the LGBT community, Sir Patrick Stewart has once again proved himself as legendary off screen as he is on.

The Logan actor has shared a clip of himself meeting his new foster dog - a pit bull named Ginger -and obviously Twitter has practically imploded with love.

The video sees Stewart waiting expectantly at his front door as Ginger arrives, before greeting him with a cuddle while Ginger starts wildly licking his face.

He wrote in the post: "Thanks to and Sunny and I are finally fostering our 1st pitbull! Meet Ginger. I'm in LOVE. "

"Thank you for that, that was a very nice greeting," Stewart replies.

Fans were also lapping it up, and praised the star for fostering a pit bull, as the controversial breed has recently been banned in Canada's Montreal.

Stewart then posted a second video of Ginger too busy licking Stewart's bald head to take part in his swimming lesson. He added the caption: "The swimming lesson that wasn't. Our foster pibble Ginger is perfect afternoon company. "

Meanwhile, Stewart has shared his political views on Donald Trump as US president, telling Esquire that he doubts he'll last two months in office before being impeached.

"But [being called a "luvvie"] that doesn't bother me at all," he said. "I don't give a shit about that. Early on, I said that Trump would only make it two years. I'm now inclined to say two months."

He also recently announced that he was retiring from X-Men after Logan.
