UPDATE: Unfortunately Emma Cline has had to cancel her UK tour so this event will no longer be happening.

Lena Dunham described it as the book that 'will break your heart and blow your mind'.

And that's exactly what happened to us when we read Emma Cline's debut novel The Girls last summer.

We remember exactly where we were (the hairdresser) when we first opened the gripping story of teenage friendship, sexual awakening and heady summer days.

A runaway success when it was published in hardback by Vintage in 2016, The Girls is set in 1969 California and follows 14-year-old Evie Boyd who becomes intoxicated by a group of girls belonging to a dark and dangerous cult.

The Girls by Emma Clinepinterest

To celebrate the book's paperback release, ELLE will be in conversation exclusively with Emma Cline.

Come and hear the 27-year-old New Yorker discuss what it took to write The Girls, what she learnt from her research into cults, and how she took on the timeless question of what it means to be a girl in the world.

There will also be a signing and opportunities to ask Emma any burning questions.

Tickets include a glass of champagne, the latest copy of ELLE and a goodie bag brimming with exciting gifts.
