Last night, Seth Meyers did the thing any of us would do if one of our friends claimed to have a famous bestie: Tell them to prove it. The late-night host had Jake Gyllenhaal on his show and asked the actor if he was really as close with his Life costar Ryan Reynolds as the press says he is. Like, could he FaceTime him right now?
Sure he could. The amply bearded actor whipped out his phone, joked that he hoped his mom could do a good Ryan Reynolds impression, and proceeded to FaceTime his pal.
Except...Reynolds didn't answer.
Awk.
He tried a couple of times, but Ryan was a no-go. Seth told him it was fine, but, you know, put your phone away because this is embarrassing, dude.
But then! Redemption.
During a commercial break, Ryan called him back―he was out and about pushing his daughter Ines' stroller. Jake was very happy:
They said a quick hi and good-bye since Jake was, of course, filming the show and Ryan explained, "I'm going to go get my lips done." It's all very cute:
