Following recent speculation around the royal family's involvement in Pippa Middleton's wedding, Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be in their aunt's bridal party.

A spokesperson for the Palace has announced that Princess Charlotte, who turns two on 2nd May, will be Pippa's bridesmaid, while three-year-old Prince George, will be page boy, The Telegraph reports.

The statement also verified the date and location of the highly-anticipated nuptials. Pippa will marry hedge-fund manager James Matthews on 20th May at St Mark's Church in Englefield, Berkshire and as expected, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend.

"Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are pleased to confirm their wedding will take place at St Mark's Church, Englefield, on the morning of 20th May," the statement read.

"The service will be attended by close family and friends, including The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. Prince George will be a page boy, and Princess Charlotte will be a bridesmaid."

The announcement comes after many hoped the Pippa's older sister Kate might be maid of honour. However, it was thought to be a "tricky situation" for the bride-to-be, who was once the world's most famous bridesmaid at the royal wedding in 2011.

"Kate would upstage her sister," royals editor Judy Wade told People last year. "It's a tricky situation for Pippa. She would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well? But if your sister is a future queen, she is going to upstage the bride and draw attention."

Kate is expected to do a reading at the ceremony, while the groom's brother Spencer Matthews is likely to be best man.
