A female survivor of domestic abuse has posted on Imgur shedding some light on what it's like to be in an abusive relationship. Titled 'My domestic violence tale, yadda, yadda, yadda,' krissykross shared a series of screengrabs of her ex-husband's text messages.

She explained that while at work, she wasn't allowed her phone, and would often finish her shift or go on her lunch break and find a string of controlling and emotionally abusive messages like this from her (then) husband.

Going on to explain that her husband became obsessed with the idea she was cheating on him with a coworker called Tony, she wrote that Tony and her rarely worked the same shifts but that this had all started after he helped her change a tyre on her car.

He would then accuse her again, and said "keeping track" of Tony's schedule and knowing "when he gets on and off" was 'suspicious behaviour'. On another occasion, she was subjected to a disturbing string of texts after she stayed at a female colleague's house. The texts read: "Where did you sleep last night? Because it wasn't here. I set traps to see if you were gonna sleep here. You didn't. Don't lie to me. This was a test and you did exactly what I thought you were gonna do."

In another post, she wrote:

"I visit my mother one every couple years. I had a huge bruise on my arm from where my husband had bit me, leaving visible teeth marks. The bruise was so bad it hung around for almost a month. Long enough for a visit to my mothers and to still be photographed by NCIS when I finally turned him several weeks later."

Krissykross explained her ex-husband was 'a kind, loving man' until she lost weight and got a job. He accused her of cheating and losing weight in order to get other men. "He hit me and sexually assaulted me," she wrote.

"Three years later and I'm actually doing great. This isn't really a sob story; I'm really proud of what I've done on my own. I just wanted to share for possibly some closure since I never really got that. Strangers on the internet are better than keeping it inside for so long. I save these text messages to remind myself how far I've come, not to cry over."
