She then accepted the Icon award, giving a thank you speech the only way Cher could:

Thank you. So, I've wanted to do what I do since I was 4 years old. And I've been doing it for 53 years. Yeah. This is not an applause thing. I'm 71 yesterday. So ...Yes. And I can do a five-minute plank, okay? Just saying.

I want to thank my mom, because when I was really young, she said you're not going to be the smartest, prettiest, the most talented, but you're going to be special. And then when I met Sonny, he said the same thing. And there was nothing about me that led anyone to believe I was going to be special. So, I've had so much help, I've had the greatest people to work with.

I had an experience with Phil Spector, worked for one year for $25 that taught me so much. I worked with the wrecking crew, people you may not know, but they're the greatest people in our industry.

And I think luck has so much to do with my success. I think it was mostly luck, and a little bit of something thrown in. That's it, and I want to thank Diane Warren, Rob, David Geffen, and a million other people. So, thank you.

#fiveminuteplank.
