Last week, Katy Perry released her new single Swish Swish, which everybody assumed was a Taylor Swift diss track.

While there's no explicit reference to Taylor, Katy's warnings of "keeping receipts" and watching out for karma have led many fans to speculate that it is Tay-Tay that Katy is telling to "swish swish, bish".

But Katy has now revealed what the song is actually about.

On The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, she said it isn't a diss track, but rather an anti-bullying anthem.

"I think it's a great anthem for people to use when someone's trying to hold you down, or bully you," Katy said. "That's kind of what this record is about: 360-degree liberation. Chained To The Rhythm was this political liberation. Bon Appetit was a sexual liberation. And now, I think Swish [Swish] is a liberation from all the negative that doesn't serve you."

On hearing this, Ruby Rose says she now feels "dirty" for slamming the track when it came out.

Ruby – who is part of Taylor's squad – took to Twitter to slam the track, saying: "'Purposeful poop' to 'bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda. Stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen."

That "Wit..I mean fetch'" reference looks to be a not so subtle nod to Katy's upcoming album, which is called Witness.

Ruby has now tweeted to admit she shouldn't have been so quick to be mean to Katy.
