Wonder Woman really is as cry-making and as entertaining as everyone has been saying. Go to the theater armed with tissues and however many snacks you need for 2.33 hours, and let Hollywood's newest superhero epic wash over you...and, let Robin Wright wash over you. Because, in case you didn't know, Robin Wright is in this movie, and she is magnificent.

Run, Robin!

Wright plays Antiope, the sister of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons (played by Connie Nielsen and a lot of leather). That makes her an aunt to Hippolyta's daughter, Diana (a.k.a Wonder Woman).

Antiope is a fierce fighter, like all her people. So when a young Diana wants to learn, she seeks out her aunt; her mother won't teach her, because she's too protective of her only child. But the two women know a secret about the little girl that helps Antiope persuade Hippolyta to begin training her.

Cue several amazing action scenes. Antiope is the one who pushes Diana further and further, saying, "You're stronger than this."

The steely strength and beauty we've always admired in Wright (hello, Claire Underwood) comes to the fore in Wonder Woman. Scarred, powerful, and with wrinkles of time and experience visible on her face, Antiope is the epitome of everything Diana knows she should be.

In Wonder Woman's first battle scene, she streaks across the screen, dispatching enemies with speed and, it has to be said, a kind of OTT creativity.

Ah, the three-pronged approach.

No spoilers here, but there are a few reasons why Wright is only in the first 20 minutes of the film. This is probably the most disappointing thing about Wonder Woman. Why isn't she in every scene? Well, there should most certainly be another film all about Antiope, and Wright should be in every scene.

It's a little overwhelming and very emotional watching a grown-up Buttercup totally kick ass. And, as tough as the fighting scenes were, Wright kept going until they were absolutely perfect, she told the LA Times: "We'd always scream, 'Can I get another take? No, I can do it better. I know I can wield my sword better.'" HEART-EYES EMOJI.

This isn't the last we've seen of Action Robin Wright; she'll be in Blade Runner 2049, which comes out later this year. And, Nielsen revealed, we'll get a little more Antiope in the superhero ensemble film Justice League. I hope she's in every scene. EVERY SCENE, I SAID.
