On her Friday YouTube livestream at Witness World Wide, Katy Perry discussed some very emotional subjects with Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh, aka The Therapist on Viceland.
The two spoke about a variety of light and heavier topics, including Katy's love life, her parents, her difficulties with drinking, and even suicidal thoughts. At one point, a member of Katy's entourage encouraged her to take a break during the difficult chat, but she remained on camera.
Here's what she shared, with the actual video below, as well. It's well worth a watch.
About her past suicidal thoughts:
"I wrote a song about it," she said. "I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, feel that low and that depressed."
She added: "You can be right or you can be loved; I just want to be loved."
On how "Katy Perry" is a persona (Her real name is Katheryn Hudson):
"That's the point of this whole thing, if people can see I'm just like them then they can dream just as big," she said. "I'm a bit more nerdy than everybody thinks I am, I'm a big goofball."
She added that "the fantasy of Katheryn went into Katy and made this bigger-than-life personality."
On her new haircut:
I "didn't want to look like Katy Perry anymore."
She finished the discussion by picking an angel card from a wooden bowl filled with cards. The idea was that the card would tell her what the angels have in store for her.
She chose a car that read, "Freedom," and cried.
