Any candy connoisseur will know that Skittles are famous for letting you, well, taste the rainbow...

But in a pretty sweet turn of events, Skittles have now given up their rainbow colours and gone white to celebrate Pride.

Following last summer's activity, in which the brand gave up its iconic colours in recognition of the annual Pride in London event, Skittles have teamed up with Tesco UK to launch limited edition 'rainbowless' fruits packs again.

Speaking about the campaign, Marketing Director at Wrigley UK Julio Guijarro said: 'The response to our #onerainbow (or Give The Rainbow) campaign at Pride in London 2016 was incredibly positive, so we were keen to get involved again.

'Our activity last year resulted in requests from across the world for colourless Skittles packs, so we're really excited to team up with Tesco UK to launch the limited edition 'rainbowless' packs to show our support again for Pride and celebrate diversity and inclusion.'

Head of Out at Tesco John Dickinson added: 'As part of our support for Pride this year, we're delighted to have worked with Skittles to offer their 'rainbowless' fruit packs in all our UK stores from the end of March.'

The 'rainbowless' packs will contain all-white Skittles Fruits with a black 'S', giving consumers a surprise with each mouthful as they will be unaware which of the five fruit flavours they are about to taste.

Available exclusively in Tesco UK stores until early September, the limited edition packs will be offered as single bags and sharing pouches.

For every limited edition 'rainbowless' pack sold, Wrigley will donate 2p to Tesco's LGBT+ charity partners.

But while some people have praised Mars' choice of all-white Skittles to celebrate Pride, others have accused the brand of racism.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: 'This is soooo f**king stupid. Why should whiteness mean equality?! Thats the f**king problem! We will never have nor want whiteness,' while someone else commented: 'Sooooooo to celebrate equality they make white skittles.... how is that not racist?'

But others argued back, adding: 'You're so triggered over white skittles that represent equality for the LGBT community... it's not about race honey.'

In a statement, a spokesman for Mars UK said: 'The rainbow flag is the symbol of Pride, but the rainbow is also synonymous with Skittles.

'So to show our support, Skittles has again given up its rainbow colours in order for Pride's rainbow to take centre stage at the Pride in London parade.

'Any suggestion that this support for Pride is in anyway racist is clearly wrong,' they added.
