Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have hired a surrogate to carry their third child through an agency, E!, People and TMZ are reporting.

Kardashian has talked about wanting to expand her family although a third natural pregnancy could be life-threatening since she suffered from placenta accreta (a serious condition where the placenta stays firmly attached to the uterus wall after childbirth instead of detaching) during her previous pregnancies.

"I've gone through so much with really bad deliveries that the doctors don't feel like it's safe for me to conceive again myself," Kardashian said on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians that aired in March. "I want my kids to have siblings and I want to know that I did everything that I could to make this happen."

Kardashian had uterine surgery so it'd be possible for her to have a child naturally, but even after that, doctors told Kardashian she couldn't safely carry any more kids. Surrogacy became her only means: "I think that I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn't think it was that realistic of an option," Kardashian said on KUWTK in April. "Now, I feel like that's my reality. I feel like surrogacy really is the only other option for me."
