We know Snapchat may have taken a bit of a back seat ever since Instagram Stories became a thing (sneaky Insta, very sneaky), but the original disappearing video and photo app has just had an update to entice us all back in. (And no, it's not another photogenic selfie filter).

Joining the voice-changing animal lenses and instant messenger feature comes the new addition of 'Snap Map', which tells you exactly where your friends are IRL. Erm, okay.

'We've built a whole new way to explore the world! See what's happening, find your friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure!,' Snapchat revealed on their blog.

Or, you've just created a whole new way to lurk on your mates/mum/ex when they aren't responding to any of your Whattsapps… either way, it's a bit creepy.

Wondering how you haven't spotted the update yet? Well, it's kind of secret as you have to pinch your Snapchat camera home screen to access the all-knowing map.

Once in, the map is complete with Actionmojis, so you can see where they are and what they're up to. Or, message them if you are also in the area and, you know, want to hang out.

Okay, now we're just freaked out.

Luckily, it doesn't let every Tom, Dick and Harry know what street you're on, as you can only select for either all your snap-happy friends or just a chosen few to see your location.

However, if you (rightly so) don't want want to get involved in the latest social media stalking device we suggest you hit the 'Ghost Mode', which allows you to stay hidden. You're welcome.

Jeez social media, can we just have 5 minutes of privacy please.
