Margaret Atwood has a small, unexpected request - she wants Drake to have a cameo in season two of The Handmaid's Tale.

The idea arose when acclaimed writer Junot Diaz interviewed her in the Boston Review.

"I'll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that, because of course the show is filmed in Toronto," she said. "Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?"

The legendary author hasn't met Drake - a fellow Canadian - just yet, but she is a fan.

"I have of course met people who have met Drake," she says. "But you have to realise how o-l-d I am. I'm not likely to go to the same parties. Or many parties at all, to be frank."

At the end of the interview, Atwood brings up the casting notion again. "I hope [we run into each other again], and you've given me a new idea. Drake in The Handmaid's Tale!"

Let's hope this idea is pursued.
