My my! Cinderella actress Lily James is heading to the Mamma Mia! sequel – and she's about to play royalty all over again. Sort of.

Lily has reportedly signed on for the role of 'Young Donna' – AKA a young Meryl Streep – according to The Hollywood Reporter. And yes, we know Donna isn't really royalty, but Meryl is basically the queen of cinema, right?

Following on from its predecessor's success, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! will bring back all of our fan-favourites, with Meryl, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried all on board for the sequel.

It will be written and directed by The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel's Ol Parker, who confirmed Lily's casting on Twitter.

The brand new musical will act as a half-prequel, half-sequel to the original, as the story revisits Donna and her lost loves while still checking in with our favorite singing family.

And don't worry – there'll be many more ABBA hits for you to sing along to.

It seems we have Meryl to thank for the long-awaited sequel, as the actress had been lobbying for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! ever since the first film smashed the worldwide box office, making more than $600 million back in 2008.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is slated for release on July 20, 2018. Gimme Gimme Gimme (now)!
