The Duchess of Cambridge was greeted by well-wishers and fans outside the presidential palace in Poland on the first day of her official state visit with Prince William.

One monarchist and big fan of Kate, 21-year-old student Magda Mordaka revealed she spoke to the 35-year-old royal to compliment her on her beauty and impeccable style.

"We are fans of the British monarchy," Mordaka excitedly explained (via Hello)."We have a Facebook group. We love her style, and her contact with people.

"We were telling her that she is beautiful and perfect, but she said it's not true - it's just the make-up."

Another fan, 17-year-old Patrycja Chelminska added: "The Duchess of Cambridge is very nice, she is beautiful. It was my dream to meet her. I am so happy."

Sebastian Brodowski, 39, who also met Kate, was reported to have said: "She is a stunning lady - she has got class. I really love her attitude. I believe that she will be the next Diana."

The Duke and Duchess touched down in Warsaw with children Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, two, on Monday as they kicked off their five-day European tour of Poland and Germany.

Prince George required some cajoling off their private jet and some words of encouragement from William as they stepped onto the red carpet surrounded by photographers and dignitaries.

Later on in the evening, Kate was looking elegant in a bespoke ivory cocktail dress by local Polish designer Gosia Baczynska as she toasted the reception with a glass of white wine.

She was attending a garden party with William in honour of the Queen.

The royal couple plan to visit Gdansk, Berlin, Heidelberg and Hamburg during their trip.
