When Ben Affleck isn't serving as comedic fodder for "Sad Affleck" memes, he's getting roasted by his own kids. On Sunday, when the two-time Oscar winner accepted his humanitarian award at the Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala in St. Paul, Minnesota, he noted that one family member in particular was entirely unimpressed with his accolade.
"When I told my oldest daughter that I was getting this award, she said, 'Yeah, Dad. Mom already has that one,'" Affleck said.
All shade aside, Violet, Affleck's 11-year-old daughter with Jennifer Garner, was completely right. Garner already received the same award last year for her philanthropic work with early childhood education. Although Garner filed for divorce from Affleck this past April, the former couple have remained dedicated to co-parenting their three children (They also have two other kids together, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5). Us Weekly reported that the family even vacationed together in the Bahamas at the end of June.
Affleck was being honored for his longtime work with the Eastern Congo Initiative, which he created with business partner Whitney Williams in 2010.
"Every time I visit, I leave even more inspired there will be a brighter and more peaceful future for the Congolese," Affleck wrote on Instagram. "The challenges are real, and the road is long, but the Congolese are the hardest working and most hopeful people I know. We often speak of heroes — I count these among the many. It's the honor of a lifetime to support Congo. My heart will forever be there with them."
