Even though Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey are most commonly regarded as the stars of Dirty Dancing, we'd argue the film wouldn't have been nearly as successful without another very important player: The Kellerman Resort. It's rustic rock exterior, quaint wooden cabins and big gleaming lake are just a few of the features that made it feel like the Catskills family destination of our dreams.

But apparently the set wasn't actually in upstate New York, after all. Who knew? In real life, the destination is actually called the Mountain Lake Hotel and it's based in Pembroke, Virginia.

It was chosen, because of the low budget of the movie (no one expected it to turn into the hit it did!) and the retro vibe and design that helped make the 1987 film feel like it was set in 1963. Another fun fact: Many of the actors actually stayed on site at the hotel!

Remember these locations?

Even though this mountain excursion is located in Virginia and not New York, it'll still deliver a Baby-approved summer adventure. For starters, the resort hosts three Dirty Dancing-themed weekends a year, which includes a sock hop, a screening of the movie, a watermelon toss, group dance lessons, and a scavenger hunt.

You can even rent out the cabin Baby and her family spent the summer in. Fingers crossed they have dance instructors as cute as Johnny Castle here, too.
