We might be a little closer to understanding the reason for Taylor Swift's weekend-long social media blackout. True to fan theories, the singer has broken her social media silence at the beginning of today's solar eclipse. At 11 a.m. EST exactly, she tweeted and Instagrammed this creepy video of a slowly flicking snake-like tail (a meta acknowledgement, it seems, of the snake emojis that flooded her Instagram post-Kimye Snapchatgate.)

Radio DJs have hinted that a further announcement—and presumably new music—is coming at 2 p.m. today.

And Joseph Kahn, who directed Swift's "Blank Space" music video, also retweeted her video, adding a smiley—a teaser that perhaps thatannouncement will include a new music video.
