The Kardashian family has a net worth in the hundreds of millions, and they're using their wealth to step up in a big way for those in need. The reality TV family banded together to raise $500,000 for those affected by the devastating floods in Houston, Texas, which claimed the lives of at least 14 people and displaced thousands since Sunday.

On Monday, comedian Kevin Hart put out a call-to-action on social media to some of the most influential people in the entertainment industry, and the Kardashians responded. "I'm calling this the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge," Hart wrote on Instagram. "Help me help Houston."

Although the Kardashians were not tagged in Hart's original post, Kris Jenner and her daughters answered his plea within a day, adding how she and her family were so moved by the "heartbreaking footage" of the flood victims.

"My daughters and I accept your challenge," Jenner said on Instagram Tuesday. "We will be donating $500,000 to [The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army] today to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We have been watching the heartbreaking footage of the catastrophic flooding in Houston and our hearts go out to the people of Texas."

Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner echoed their mother's sentiments online by sharing their generous donation and telling their fans how they, too, can help.

The Kardashian-Jenner family has a history of giving back to support causes they care about. On a 2009 episode of their E! reality series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney were filmed helping a family who survived Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. And Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney recently stepped up to support Planned Parenthood after Republicans in Congress threatened to defund it.
