In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and its destruction in Texas, Beyoncé—who was born and raised in Houston—has used her BeyGOOD foundation to donate and raise funds for Bread of Life, Greater Houston Community Foundation, and Texas Southern University to help with storm relief.

But her outreach to the community went further today when the singer, her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, and her mother Tina Lawson made a surprise appearance at St. Johns Church in Houston to help survivors. There, Bey made an emotional speech on stage, which was recorded by people there:

"You are such an incredible example of what light and love is," she started. "And this today is a celebration of survival. Y'all are my family. Houston is my home. And I thank God that y'all are safe, that your children are safe. The thing that really matters is your health and your children and your family."

"And I just to want to say I love you. I am so thankful to God that I feel blessed so that I can bless other people. And I ask you guys to continue to do that for other people."
