It's hard to imagine Angelina Jolie hanging out at home in her pajamas, but the Hollywood star says that's the reason her children giggle at her when she's all glammed-up on the red carpet.

The Hollywood star arrived with her delighted brood of six at the premiere of First They Killed My Father at the Toronto Film Festival this week and told ET: "They are excited.

"I can't tell if they're excited or they're more like, 'Mom, ehh.' I think they were laughing at us before.

"They were laughing at both of us [Jolie and activist Loung Ung] because they're used to seeing us at home and we hang out in our pajamas and make breakfast.

"So even though they've seen me dressed up, they really laughed at her [Loung Ung] dressed up.

"They're having a laugh."

Jolie proudly posed with children Maddox, 16; Pax, 13; Zahara, 12; Shiloh, 11; Vivienne, 9, and Knox, 9, and activist Un, plus the film's stars Kimhak Mun and Sareum Srey Moch on the red carpet.

Her Netflix production is an adaptation of Cambodian-born author and activist Ung's memoir from 2000. It follows Ung's harrowing quest as a five-year-old child for survival amid the sudden rise and terrifying reign of the Khmer Rouge.

Jolie's Cambodian-born son Maddox is credited as an executive producer.

Meanwhile, the actress and director was at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this week to promote The Breadwinner, which she produced. The animated movie centers on a young girl in Afghanistan who dresses up as a boy in order to earn money to support her family.
