Remember how Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl was naughty but alluring at the same time? It turns out there's more where that came from on Netflix's new show White Gold. Westwick plays Vincent Swan, a window salesman in '80s England—and he's kind of a UK hybrid of Bass, Mad Men's Don Draper, and The Wolf of Wall Street's ruthless hawkers. Let's just say the show opens with Westwick wearing some seriously retro undies.

"Everything on the show's spicy," Westwick told ELLE.com at the BAFTA pre-Emmy tea party in Beverly Hills on Saturday. "The cocaine, the curries, and the prostitutes." Then he smiled and added sweetly, "It's terrible. I didn't write it, so you can't blame me, my mind is very clean."

While Westwick doesn't hate a good Don Draper comparison, he said, "I think Essex is a little different from New York," then hurriedly added, "but I love Essex! I love you, Basildon. I've got to go back there in a couple of weeks. We'll get eggs thrown at our windows."

The show was originally screened by the BBC in the UK but Westwick is confident that American audiences will take to it pretty well, too. "I think we're all a bit raunchy these days, aren't we?" he said.
