Thought you were the only one who looked terrible in all selfies? You're not alone; Cindy Crawford - one of the world's most beautiful women - can't get to grips with them either.

"I still can't quite figure out the selfie thing," Crawford told us. "Maybe it's just that I'm not 16, but I'm like... how do you do this? They all know how to do it.

"So many of the young girls today - everyone's a model in their own right now. So many of my daughter's friends know their good angles. They're much more sophisticated about that now."

The supermodel was talking to us at the launch of her new Omega campaign, in which she stars alongside her 16-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber.

"Kaia's an old soul," she said. "I'm not sure she loves working with me as much – I'm still her mother! She'll be like 'Mom, I've got this.' It's good though, I want her to find her own way. But she does know that I know what I'm talking about - so she does listen to me when it comes to the fashion world."

The model explained that now she's older, she feels happiest working on personal projects. If a brand wants to work with her, then it has to tick a lot of boxes in order to get her to sign up.

"In the States, my main work is my beauty line with Dr Sebagh, which we first started developing in 2001," she explained. "And I also have my furniture licensing project – so they're my own personal projects and at this point in my life are more interesting to me. But then occasionally something will come up – it'll be a brand I like or a photographer I really like, or something cool. I always say that I always have something better to be doing now, which is being with my family, so something has to tick lots of boxes now for me to say yes."

The 51-year-old also touched on ageism in an industry that has a notoriously short shelf life for many - and how she's managed to achieve career longevity through long-term relationships with brands such as Omega and Versace.

"I'm not a 25-year-old girl on the cover of magazines anymore, I'm a 51-year-old woman," she told us. "I'm a businesswoman, I'm a wife, I'm a mother; yes I'm still a model and I'll always be one in a weird way. I do pictures for my own skincare line – so to me, if you're getting your photograph taken, that's modelling. If I have to get hair and make-up done, I'm a model.

"But it's not like, okay now we're going to dump her and we want the new Cindy Crawford – [Omega] has let me evolve. The way that they use me has evolved. That's all you can hope for out of a brand partnership really. You both grow, but you hope you grow together. And now they did get the new Cindy Crawford, too!"
