Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus, re-engaged and very in love, were in some ways fated to get back together—or at least that's how Miley Cyrus described it to Howard Stern today on his radio show (via Billboard and E!). After they called off their engagement in 2013, fate had a "funny, fucking crazy" way of keeping Cyrus in her ex's life.

"When we broke up, he wanted to get away from me," she explained. As a gesture of independence—Cyrus owned a house in Studio City at the time—Hemsworth bought his own house in Malibu, only to find out he'd purchased the exact house where Cyrus had recorded her first album, Meet Miley Cyrus.

"The person hid all the plaques in the garage so he would still buy the house," she said. "So then he went to move in and he was like, 'Fuck! I cannot get away. This bitch is all over my fucking house!'"

Fast forward to today, and the two are now living in that very Malibu house together, hence, Cyrus' love song "Malibu". Last month, Cyrus told The Sun on Sunday that when they broke up that "I didn't know [we'd get back together]. I'm so crazy I have no idea. But I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over. We kept a great friendship really private. It's good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise when you're with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person."

When Stern told Cyrus that their decision to spend time apart was healthy, she responded with a similar point: "I don't like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole. ... It's that 'I can't eat, I can't sleep.' Well, that's because you're so used to depending on someone else. So I don't think that I have that codependency."

She also acknowledged that when Hemsworth does movies with attractive costars, "I get that little butterfly in my stomach. I know me and I know what our relationship is, so anyone's gonna feel like...it's fucking abnormal, I think, but my life is abnormal." But, she joked, she has her way of keeping tabs on him and his on-screen love interests. "I keep my little spies. So I don't always have to be there."
