Marvel recently fired up social media after unveiling the long-awaited trailer for the upcoming Black Panther movie and now, fans are losing it over yet another Marvel film: Thor: Ragnarok and the fact Tessa Thompson, who plays newbie Valkyrie in the upcoming Thor film, included in a recent tweet.
One fan expressed his disappointment with Valkyrie's "typical sexless marvel tomboy" look, prompting another fan to defend the new female superhero. The fan wrote, "Valkyrie in the comics is a big ole lesbian so I doubt she would give your opinion any thought."
Thompson chimed in and clarified that Valkyrie is actually "bi," marking the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first-ever LGBTQ movie character. "She's bi. And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her," Thompson wrote. "What a joy to play!"
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on Nov. 2.
