This morning, Selena Gomez dropped "Wolves," her collaboration with Marshmello about chasing lost love.
The two also have a very sweet music video to go with it that they've been teasing. They haven't shared the release date, but it should be imminently coming:
In an interview with Zane Lowe, Gomez explained that she got the song already written—so while the lines aren't specifically inspired by what she's gone through with any one person, they do "mirror" her experience at the time she was recording it.
"This was a song that I heard in Japan for the first time, and I was talking to Andrew Watt, who is one of the writers that I've worked with for years [he worked on "It Ain't Me" too]," Gomez said. "And he actually just played me a rough version, and I thought it was really beautiful and he sent it to Marshmello, and we ended up talking. We created a really cool tone and a story with it, and the song is very beautiful and personal and the lyrics just have a whole story of its own. Weirdly, at the same time I was working on it in Japan, I was going through stuff too so it's mirrored everything."
