Claire Foy was "not offended" when Adam Sandler repeatedly touched her knee during their appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night.

The 51-year-old actor was talking about his experience at the Golden Globes with his mother many years ago when he kept tapping Claire's knee in a signal to her Golden Globe win for her role as the Queen in The Crown.

Sandler also tapped his Meyerowitz Stories co-star Emma Thompson's leg while he was chatting about their critically-acclaimed Netflix movie, as she sat on the other side to Sandler on Graham's red couch.

But while fans on Twitter suggested that the Happy Gilmore star was making Claire feel increasing uncomfortable as he kept making contact with her leg, her representative released a statement to insist that Sandler's "gesture" caused her "no offense."

"We don't believe anything was intended by Adam's gesture and it has caused no offence to Claire," her representative told Mail Online when contacted for comment.

Meanwhile, Sandler's spokesperson added to the online paper that his action was just a "friendly gesture."

Sandler also repeatedly touched Dustin Hoffman's knee while they were speaking about their Noah Baumbach film on a talk show recently.
